Just ten kilometres – it’s all that separates the cathedral square in Brixen from Mt. Plose – a real year-round outdoor paradise as well as the local mountain, offering plenty of hiking, cycling and skiing opportunities for all. However, you don’t need to climb that high to get your money’s worth – areas at lower altitudes and surrounding the old town also have much to offer to sports enthusiasts and active holidaymakers.


Enjoy the snow on the sunny slopes, choosing from a generous assortment of pistes for both leisure skiers and professional carvers. In winter, the Plose attracts scores of skiers with a variety of runs, a spectacular view of the Dolomites and modern lift facilities.


The RudiRun toboggan run on Mt. Plose promises 9 kilometres of fun-packed speed and excitement. For a less challenging alternative, there’s the Rossalm run, which you can reach with a pleasant hike. You can take the cable car for the ascent, and get the toboggans at the hire shop by the valley station.

Winter walking

Snow-capped peaks and a world of perfect tranquillity: in South Tyrol, winter has it all! Climb up Mt. Plose with the cable car and follow the well-maintained footpaths that lead through the snow to the local Alpine huts, taking in the view of the Dolomites – always in sight, as white giants immersed in their silent wintry slumber.

Walking and hiking

Mt. Plose, the chestnut groves at lower altitudes and the vineyards in the valley offer endless footpaths and trails for pleasant walks and hikes, including family-friendly options such as the Woody Walk path on Mt. Plose with its many play stations.


Get your adrenaline kick on the Plose BikePark’s four lines or take panoramic tours up to the Eisacktal valley’s Alpine pastures with an electric bike. There are various bike rentals in the area where you can hire bikes and equipment.


A lawn with a mountain view for sunbathing, , a sauna area, and a choice of indoor and outdoor pools and splash pools for swimmers of all ages. Acquarena is an oasis of relaxation for the whole family right in the centre of Brixen.


Even the building’s façade is a climbing highlight – the Vertikale climbing centre in Brixen features 224 different routes and a large bouldering room.
